When Your Calling Has a Cashflow Gap

The Quandary Every Business Owner Faces
As we begin the 3rd fiscal quarter, many have questions about cashflow. I had conversations with business owners and those preparing both were perplexed on what to do next. There is a conversation that happens in quiet moments, early in the morning before the day begins, or late at night when the numbers don't quite add up.
Sounds like:
"Maybe I should just get a job."
And then immediately after — sometimes in the same breath:
"But I know this is what I'm supposed to be doing."
If you have ever sat with both of those thoughts at the same time, you are not alone. And you are not failing. You are navigating one of the most honest tensions in building a purpose-driven business — the gap between your calling and your cashflow.
Three People. Same Conversation.
The first two has been in business for quite some time, feel the plateau and wondering, things have shifted but not clear sense of on purpose. But the income is inconsistent — some months are strong. Others are painfully quiet. Both are concerned and want to make the right decisions.
The other has not yet started. Sitting in a role — or recently left one — and knows there is something more they're qualified for and know must prepare now. Has the vision. But the paycheck felt safe, and the leap felt terrifying. What if it doesn't work?
Two different starting points.
The same gap. The same question.
The question is not really about money. It is about identity. It is about whether the life you are building on the outside matches the woman you already know yourself to be on the inside.
The Cashflow Gap Is a Structure Problem — Not a Calling Problem
Here is what 27 years of advising has taught me:
The calling is almost never wrong. The structure around it usually is and pinpointing the gaps and/or blind spots.
Those who come to me stuck in the cashflow gap are not stuck because they lack talent, expertise, or purpose. They are stuck because the business architecture has not yet caught up with the vision. The messaging isn't clear enough for the market to say yes quickly. The offers are not structured for consistent, predictable revenue. The identity. How they show up, pricing, the value has not fully aligned with what is actually being delivered.
This is not a motivation problem. This is a strategy problem. And strategy has solutions.
The Question That Changed Everything
Years ago, my own mentor stopped me mid-conversation and asked:
"Paula, why are you spending your time solving $10K problems when you should be creating $100K opportunities?"
That question landed differently than anything I had heard before. Because I was busy. I was productive. I was working hard. And I was pointed in exactly the wrong direction.
The $10K problem is the cashflow anxiety — the scramble for the next client, the next contract, the next month. It feels urgent because it is urgent. But solving it the same way, month after month, keeps you in survival mode instead of building toward something sustainable.
The $100K opportunity is the infrastructure question. What would it look like if your expertise, your methodology, and your message were aligned so that the right people found you — and said yes — consistently?
You don't have a calling problem. You have a positioning problem. And that is entirely fixable.
What Closing the Gap Actually Requires
Whether you are a business owner navigating inconsistent income or a professional standing at the edge of your own beginning, the work is the same. It requires three things:
01 — Messaging Clarity. The market cannot say yes to what it cannot clearly understand. Your decades of experience must be translated into language that makes the right person say — immediately — "you are exactly who I need."
02 — Offer Architecture. Calling without a container cannot generate consistent income. The work is to design offers that deliver your transformation in a structured, scalable way — not just one brilliant conversation at a time.
Revenue streams and Roi’s that grow and flow over time.
03 — Identity Alignment. How you show up — what you charge, how you introduce yourself, whether you own your expertise fully — determines the ceiling of everything that follows. The identity transaction is the most important shift you will make.
You Are Not Starting Over. You Are Building Forward.
If you are in the middle of the cashflow gap right now, whether you are a business owner trying to find the consistent revenue your calling deserves, or a professional standing at the edge of your next chapter, I want you to hear this clearly:
The gap is not evidence that you are wrong. The gap is where the gold is.
Everything you have built, led, navigated, and survived has positioned you for exactly this season. The work now is not to start over. It is to build the structure your calling has always deserved.
That is what The MidTime™ is about. That is what the work looks like when Soul meets Strategy.
